The newly named Giertz Gallery at Parkland College is proud to present the Annual Art & Design Faculty Exhibition. The exhibit is an annual showcase of art created by faculty and includes sculpture, painting, photography, metals, ceramics, graphic design and digital media.  An opening reception for the artists and a ceremony honoring the new name of the gallery in honor of Donna Giertz will take place Thursday, August 21.

To celebrate the opening of the faculty art exhibit and the renaming of the gallery, a public reception is scheduled from
6-8pm on Thursday, August 21.  Festivities will feature music by Ms. M and the Jokers. At 6pm there will be an official recognition and unveiling of the new signage for Donna Giertz for her 20+ years of service to Parkland College in addition to a monetary gift. Donna Giertz was a professor of marketing, management and international business at Parkland from 1980 to 2003, and was elected to the Parkland Board of Trustees in April 2005. The existing gallery will now be known as "The Donna Hyland Giertz Gallery," also known as "The Giertz Gallery at Parkland College." In addition to the naming ceremony, Kelly White will give a gallery talk about her artwork at 7pm. She is a practicing painter, teaches art history at Parkland College, and serves as the Executive Director for 40 North, Champaign County Arts, Culture, and Education Council.

Exhibiting faculty members include: Louis Ballard, Chris Berti, Lisa Costello, Marsha Daniels, Larry Ecker, Stacey Gross, Melinda McIntosh, Craig McMonigal, Laura O’Donnell, Denise Seif, Peggy Shaw, Joan Stolz, Matthew Watt, Kelly White, Blaine Wright, and Paul Young.

The exhibition is free and fall gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday, noon-2 p.m. The gallery will be closed on Monday, September 1 for Labor Day. To find the gallery when classes are in session, we suggest using the M6 parking lot on the north corner of the campus.
